Exploring the Power & Joy of Creating with Nature

FLURRY COLLECTION

A collaboration between two friends and the land.

Finbar McHugh on His New Collection

My latest collection began with a simple idea, sparked by the beauty of nature that surrounded me throughout the summer. The flurries of Meadow Buttercups and Cuckoo Flowers along the river walk in Woodquay captured my imagination—each year, I watch these resilient flowers rise and fall, standing strong against the elements. Rain, hail, or shine, they continue to grow and thrive, their vibrant colors a testament to the enduring power of life. For me, they have become a symbol of hope, swaying gracefully in the warm southerly winds and embodying the resilience and beauty of the natural world.

During this time,

my dear friend Julia Monard—a beautiful photographer who also creates work under the name 'This Wild Fae'—was deepening her connection to the land in Moycullen. Each day, she explored the boundaries of the fields, from the stony walls to the lake, offering her time and energy as a tribute to the land. Her journey and mine converged, leading to a beautiful collaboration.

Together, we took time to honour the land, exploring and meditating in the fields, drawing inspiration from the elements and the vibrant life around us. We returned on the next sunny day, ready to translate our experiences into art, creating pieces that reflect the aliveness and spirit of the summer fields. This collection is the result of that shared journey, a celebration of nature's resilience and the profound connections it fosters.
